What Products Did You Buy For Your BIG CHOP SURVIVAL KIT?

My BIG CHOP SURVIVAL KIT

"To Grow, Or Not To Grow?", That Is The Question

Here are tips to help your hair grow while on this amazing journey ladies it do grow you just need to have patience and delicate hands

MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE I cant stress this enough our hair is like a tree it needs water to grow so for this I suggest creamy leave in such as mixed chicks products you can find this at your local beauty supply stores

L.O.C METHOD this is a sure way for moisture to stay in your hair. liquid (water),oils and creamy leave in conditioner

HAIR VITAMINS now what I suggest for a woman with a budget is biotin and prenatal pills now biotin comes in different dosages from 100mgs to 10.000mgs I suggest you take a small dose first and work your way up to the high dose because biotin sometimes break you out in lots of pimples. Prenatal pills are not just for pregnant women it has loads of vitamins that we need everyday and is a cost efficient way to get what you need you can find these at your local drug stores

OILS now castor oil such as jamacian black castor oil and regular laxative castor oil will do wonders for hair growth the difference is in price texture and smells jamacian black castor oil is dark and has a strong smell and a little more costly and regular laxative castor oil is clear with no smell and thicker and way cheaper you can find (jbco) at your local beauty Supply store and regular laxative castor oil at your local grocery are drug store. OLIVE OIL and COCONUT OIL this is something you can find at your grocery store its cost efficient and it will deep penitrat into your scalp and all of  these oils are great for stimulating growth and can be used as hot oil treatments

HOT OIL TREATMENTS great way to promote growth and to soften up new growth put your oils of choice all on your scalp seal it with a plastic cap and leave in for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water and style

NIGHT TIME ROUTINE keep your hair wraped at night in a silk bonnet or scarf tou can also sleep on a satin pillow. cotton pillow cases and scarfs will dry your hair out and suck all the moisture out your hair and that is what we dont want to happen

This is what I do to grow my hair out and it works if done right thanks for reading and comment if you have any questions

I Am Not My Hair

Ok ladies I been noticing lots of 20 inches or better of long silky weave extentions. I remember back when I was in school I got picked on for wearing long weave down my back. They called it witch hair now im 25 years old and natural all the same girls who was talking bout me is wearing the long weave trying to look like the girls they see in the music videos and on tv shows. We as black woman dont have to play a part to be noticed we are all beautiful and very much desired without the destruction of the hair care I see running around. Now its ok to rock a weave for protective styles but do it right. Dont relax your hair dont leave that lil piece out and flat iron it to death dont leave it in for months without taking care of your beautiful crown underneath the weave. Im not saying braids are bad but micro braids are the devil trust me I know I wore them my whole pregnancy and yes it grew my hair but also made it weak and damaged and my edges forget about it they were gone, finished, but hey I learned my lesson "right"nope I went and got them again for my wedding day terrible decision so here I was two months after my wedding day taking my micros out and noticed my hair was gone and paper thin. So thats when my transitioning journey began. I will rock a fro, a twist out, a braid out, a sow in (protective style) what ever I feel like doing but know this my hair dont make me I make her I AM NOT MY HAIR...

TWA Life (Teeny Weeny Afro)

Let's talk about TWA (Teeny Weeny Afros), I have been rocking my TWA since I did the big chop on May 1st 2014. I have been in love with my new look since the first time I saw it(but my husband hated it). Cutting my hair was not only liberating, it was also empowering. By cutting and freeing my hair of the many non-natural hair products and chemicals, I was no longer a slave to America's standard of beauty. "So long relaxers and so long hair extensions", now for you that do not know about TWA's, its that small afro of new growth that curls up after you cut off all of that dead and stringy damaged hair. Don't get discouraged, it won't stay "teeny weeny" for long. The ways to keep your new found afro styled is; lots of bows, lots of moisturizer, lots of tiny twist, and lots of gel(I prefer ecoStyler Olive Oil Gel). Personally, I suggest Cantu's Shea butter products, they have helped me through my TWA days. You must deep condition your hair once a week and shampoo once a month, the pre-wash is a different story, it's a mild shampoo that cleanses buildup from other hair products, this is what you can use once every other week, but at the same time keep all the moisture in your hair. If you decide to do the big chop, embrace your TWA, don't run from it. At first, you might look at it and say "Oooooh naw", on the count of it being extremely short, but believe me, IT'S WORTH IT!

My Natural Journey

Ok ladies, lets talk about the natural movement. Personally I am a believer now before I found out about the natural pandemonium I was like most girls weaving it up and relaxing my god given roots every 3 months. Wearing micro braids killing my edges till one day I said im gonna grow my hair out so I went online to look up fast ways to make my hair go from ear lenth to tail bone in a second(wishful thinking) so I came across a kinky curly page on youtube talking about being natural and going back to your roots that god had gave you.it was two ways to start first one was the bc (big chop) naturally I was like ummmm no I wanted my hair down my back not shorter. Then the second choice was to (transition) now that I can get with. So I put down the flat irons threw away my harmful shampoos and went to my local beauty Supply store and got what I call my arsenal kit for my amazing natural journey. I started with everything you can think of cantus shea butter products that I absolutely love and I also purchased as am I products that didn't really work for my hair type witch later I found out was type 4a mixed with 4b. Now my transitioning began February 1st 2014 I was trying twist outs bantu knots all that things I learned from youtube.now believe it are not I was doing really good on my transitioning styles got so many complements and everything but soon as I washed and deep conditioned I saw the horror. The strong amazing roots then my horrible damaged ends ewwww they were stringy and just dry and not flattering. So that ladies was the day of may 1st 2014 I quinn washington decided to cut all my hair off and start over the bc(big chop) most amazing day of my life I never felt so free and since then I been in love with my hair no looking back.
